Can I hire any hairstylist for my shoot?
- The work of a hairstylist during a shoot is very different from their usual work in a salon. During a photo session, the hairstylist mainly focuses on styling (with some exceptions). However, styling is rarely practiced in salons, where hairstylists concentrate on haircuts and coloring, which are more profitable. Therefore, very few hairstylists are well-trained in the styling techniques required for a shoot.
- The working conditions during a shoot are far from the daily routine of a non-specialized hairstylist. The hairstylist must transport all their equipment and be willing to set up in an unfamiliar location without their usual comforts. The shoot hairstylist must be able to work quickly, sometimes under pressure, and be relatively flexible because shooting days are intense.
During the Popmyday hairstyling selection sessions, I give candidates timed styling exercises. I then review their portfolio and references. This allows me to immediately identify the hairstylists who can be deployed for our shoot requests.

How will you select the hairstylist for my shoot?
- First, we ask you to describe your expected outcome, your “artistic” brief. Do you want something very natural? Or, do you have a very specific styling expectation? This allows us to define together the style of the hairstylist we will assign to you. If you have an inspiration mood board, it can be a good support for choosing your shoot hairstylist.
- Secondly, we focus on practical aspects: when and where is the shoot taking place? Do you have any specific requirements (languages spoken, brand used, etc.)? Once this is established, we select a profile from the shortlisted hairstylists based on availability.

Rates
- The rates for a studio hairstylist's services can vary based on several factors:
- Average rate: Generally, rates can vary between €50 and €200 per hour, depending on the complexity and duration of the project.
